Student Electronic Device Policy
To maintain a focused and productive learning environment, the use of electronic devices during the instructional day is strictly limited. The use of cell phones and other electronic devices during class time interferes with teaching and disrupts student learning. Students are permitted to bring and use electronic devices on campus; however, their use is only allowed during designated non‑instructional times.
Students are expected to turn off their devices and secure them inside their Yondr pouch once they check in at the Yondr station.
When Devices May Be Used
Students may bring electronic devices to school; however, their use is only permitted during non‑instructional times such as:
- Before school
- During lunch
- After school
Electronic devices include cell phones, tablets, iPads, iPods, headphones/earbuds, and smartwatches
Yondr Pouch Requirements
Once a student checks in at the Yondr station, they are required to turn off their cell phone (airplane mode) and place it inside a Yondr pouch, along with any other electronic devices such as earbuds and Apple watches. No electronic devices should be heard during instructional hours. For this reason, all devices secured in the Yondr pouch must remain powered off throughout class time.
A damaged Yondr pouch will result in a $40 replacement fee. Additional damage may lead to disciplinary action in accordance with the YCCS Student Code of Conduct under Violation 3‑11.
Violation 3-11 student accountability consequences
1st violation – In school suspension/LUNCH detention
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
● Teacher/staff notifies the student and the Family & Student Advisor of the cell phone/electronic device
policy violation.
● Family & Student Advisor will record infringement of cell phone/electronic device policy violation in
Power School as a first offense.
● Parents/guardians are notified.
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
● Teacher/staff notifies the student and the Family & Student Advisor of the cell phone/electronic device
policy violation.
● Family & Student Advisor will record the infringement of cell phone/electronic device policy violation in
Power School as a second offense.
● Parents/Guardians are notified.
3rd violation – Suspension
2nd violation – 2 day in-school suspension/LUNCH detention
3rd violation – Suspension
● Teacher/staff notifies the student and the Family & Student Advisor of the cell phone/electronic device
policy violation.
● Family & Student Advisor will record the infringement of cell phone/electronic device policy violation in
Power School as a third offense.
● Family & Student Advisor issues one-day suspension. Assistant Principal calls
● Teacher/staff notifies the student and the Family & Student Advisor of the cell phone/electronic device
policy violation.
● Family & Student Advisor will record the infringement of cell phone/electronic device policy violation in
Power School as a third offense.
● Family & Student Advisor issues one-day suspension. Assistant Principal calls the parents/guardians.
Student must return with their parents/guardians for an immediate conference with the school
Principal.
● Family & Student Advisor will escort the student of the building.
